DETAILS ABOUT THE CHOIR

Vision statement / Artistic goals: The Casey Choir is a Ladies choir where the emphasis is on achieving excellence through having fun, lots of laughter, tea and coffee, and of course singing

Voice type: ALL FEMALE SINGERS

Choir performs: Both accompanied & unaccompanied

Year Choir formed: 1998

No. of Singing Members - Currently: 60 Desired: 60+

Musical Repertoire: A wide range of music written for women's voices, including classical, folk and popular music

Musical Director: Simon Loveless

No. of years in current post: since 2010

Previous musical experience: Simon's previous directing positions include West Gippsland Chorale, Da Capo Singers and RMIT Choir; he has been accompanist or assistant director with a number of other choirs, currently serving in both roles with Melbourne Youth Chorale; Simon works as a freelance accompanist, working with a number of schools, theatre companies and other community music organisations

Choir's past collaborations with other musical groups: Melbourne Women's Choir, Australian Welsh Male Choir, Cranbourne Chorale, Mornington Peninsula Chorale, Yarra Trio, T3 Trio, Casey Concert Band, Claire Patti, Shu-Cheen Yu, Melbourne Mandolin Orchestra, Melbourne Youth Chorale, Pure Melodics

Audition: No, just tested for range and assigned to the appropriate section

Minimum Attendance policy - Rehearsals: Yes Concerts: Yes

Membership Fees: $35 Monthly Fee, $5 Monthly Social Member Fee if not singing

Ability to read music: Desirable but not necessary

Sight-reading ability: Not necessary
