DETAILS ABOUT THE CHOIR

Vision statement / Artistic goals: The Casey Choir is a Ladies choir where the emphasis is on achieving excellence through having fun, lots of laughter, tea and coffee, and of course singing

Voice type: ALL FEMALE SINGERS

Choir performs: Both accompanied & unaccompanied

Year Choir formed: 1998

No. of Singing Members - Currently: 45 Desired: 40+

Musical Repertoire: A wide range of music written for women's voices, including classical, folk and popular music

Musical Director: Simon Loveless

No. of years in current post: since 2010

Previous musical experience: Simon is a past Director of the Da Capo Singers chamber choir and the RMIT Choir, and works as a tutor and accompanist with the Berwick Youth Choir; previously he has worked as accompanist and/or assistant musical director with many other choirs; as well as working in schools, musical theatre and community music; Simon is currently the Victorian state secretary of the Australian National Choral Association (ANCA)

Choir's past collaborations with other musical groups: Melbourne Women's Choir, Australian Welsh Male Choir, Cranbourne Chorale, Mornington Peninsula Chorale, Yarra Trio, T3 Trio

 

JOINING REQUIREMENTS

Audition: No, just tested for range and assigned to the appropriate section

Minimum Attendance policy - Rehearsals: Yes Concerts: Yes

Membership Fees: $30 Joining Fee, $10 Annual Membership Fee, $10 Annual Costume Fee, $25 Monthly Attendance Fee, $5 Monthly Social Member Fee if not singing

Ability to read music: Desirable but not necessary

Sight-reading ability: Not necessary
