DETAILS ABOUT THE CHOIR

Vision statement / Artistic goals: To rehearse and perform good choral music from any period, with particular attention to the music of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries

Voice type: SATB

Choir performs: Both accompanied & unaccompanied

Year Choir formed: 1962

No. of Singing Members - Currently: 28 Desired: 30-35

Musical Repertoire: Good choral music of all periods, both sacred and secular - Bach, Byrd, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Britten, Vaughan Williams

Musical Director: Alexandra Cameron

No. of years in current post: since 2012

Previous musical experience: After completing her Music degree at The University of Melbourne, Alexandra began her teaching career in Hamilton and was involved in the musical life of that city as an educator, performer, accompanist and conductor; Alexandra is currently Head of Music at Wesley College (Elsternwick Campus) and Deputy Conductor of the Camberwell Chorale

JOINING REQUIREMENTS

Audition: Yes - Solo audition with Musical Director, no prepared piece required

Minimum Attendance policy - Rehearsals: Yes Concerts: No

Membership Fees: $180 p.a.

Ability to read music: Highly desirable

Sight-reading ability: Desirable
